Half of the cong was dancing last night

so went to the meeting last night.

i had not been to one since before the holiday break (3 weeks ago).

besides, it was our first meeting in the new format.

The song is upbeat and catchy and I can see why people like it and I have no propblem with having fun at the meeting, the problem I have is that I spent my life being told by these same people that emulating the worlds music and dance and showing outward emotion during worship or having musical services was wrong and is drawing attention to oneself rather than to Jehovah.

This is one step away from what you'd see at a church music service or a revival meeting. I'm sure the people feel great afterward but what about all the scriptures they used in the past to prove this kind of thing was improper?

I suppose if they can decide it's ok to use blood fractions after thousands who could have been saved by them died, this change in the music is pretty minor.

Going to the C.L.A.M.

so i haven't been to a midweek meeting in some time.... but i must attend this first clam (not to be confused with 'klan') meeting.

so as many know....ive been df'd goin on 19 years already.

i drive pops to meetings, and drop him off on saturdays for fs.. well yesterday, the elders ask to speak to me, and tell me that if i plan on returning to jehovah, i had better shave my beard off..

omg!!!!!!

You should pick up your Pop after the next meeting, with your beard dyed purple or some such color. (spray on temporary dye of course so you can change colors for every meeting)

My Bethel Experience Part 6 with new info.

Reading these is really bringing back memories for me and my time spent there. It really reminds me of how idealistic we were, the lengths we would go to and what we'd put up with to carry out the wishes of these religious lunatics and their impractical, convoluted methods to spread a supposedly time sensitive, life saving message to the world.Between the inefficient door to door work and the overly convoluted means of printing the literature, it's a good thing the end didn't come.

Unlike Bethelites who were mugged on the streets of New York, I was robbed of all of my money in my own room. The Bethel office didn't believe me....if I'd have been older and less trusting of my elders, I would have filed a Police report. Would love to have seen their faces at the Bethel office if I'd have dragged a Cop in there with me.

the majority of members who tend to join this forum have been hurt possibly even traumatized sometimes to the point of wanting to end their lives.

upon joining the forum, new members are welcomed with open arms, welcome messages start pouring in, "likes" are freely given, a false sense of security is promoted where a member is free to speak his mind without having to worry about the wt gestapo.

again, similar to how potential converts are welcomed and "love bombed" upon entering a kh for the first time.

I see what your saying but at least when there is a disagreement here, no one this forum will demand that your family and lifelong friends stop talking to you, nor will they indicate that unless you change your way of thinking to their way of thinking, god is going to destroy you.

How do you tell your spouse you no longer believe in God?

so i was hoping to get some insight on this subject of telling your spouse that you no longer believe in god.

for two people who have been jehovahs witnesses for 20 years together, talking about this seems to be real hard for me.

i still pray with my wife before meals but that's about it.

I also told her that I will go to all the meetings with her no problem but not field service. She is also ok with this.
I guess for the time being Ill just keep up the act because I wouldnt want to devastate her by suddenly telling her I don't believe in God.(or at least the God of the bible)

Sometimes the most important thing to JW wives is that you're there to complete the picture so that she isn't in the position of being a widow by having an unbelieving mate.

When I stopped going to the meetings, my wife hated sitting there alone, but that was when she really started to pay attention to the things she had been raised with and had taken for granted to be true.

I've been depressed lately.

my husband and i went to visit his family for the holidays.

not everyone showed for the visit ,the weather was lousy, and it just generally sucked.

now we're back to the same old routine with work and life and we're both depressed and alone.

It sounds like you had a "perfect storm" of events....a stretch of unstructured free time off, during a blah time of year and spent with people you'd rather not be with. The Holidays are sometimes like that even for people whose families are speaking to them.

Sometimes it's good to get back to our normal routines no matter how hum-drum they can seem. In the meantime, I think it's good to make a point of having specific plans made during the holidays or when you have long stretches of free time and to fill in the void. During the winter (especially) it's good to have something nice to look forward to. Sometimes just getting away to a nearby city or town and spending the night there, eating out or doing something new, is enough to do the trick. It doesn't have to cost a lot of money either....just something to break the routine and fill the down time and move you in the direction of getting out yourself out there meeting new people or having new experiences.
